NEXT TO ENGAGEMENT

Thursday, April 14, 2011

It is all overwhelming, the friendship, then the relationship, then the engagement. You are blissfully happy and contented. But it does not end to that. It's not all courtship, sweetness and dating. Because after that it will be more than that. Much, much more than that. Because next to engagement will be marriage, commitment and responsibility. Next it will not just "you and me" but "you, me and them". The family. The children.

There will be a need to prepare yourself to let go of prioritizing yourself and your better half. You need to be prepared to forget yourself a little and focus on those tiny people that will solely depend on you. They will depend on you to take care of them. Provide them things they need and want. Those signature bags you buy for your collection and use will be changed to toddler backpack. And of course, you still wouldn't want less than the best. Not just anything, but these pretty ones that will be the envy of others. School will come and nap mats will be needed. Again, you kids have to be the best. Why have the least if you can have the best among the rest?

Still, we also have to consider that life is not that easy to live. You got to have better source than "just enough" because when you have a family to care for, you have to think one step ahead. Business like Embroidery Dallas to add to your monthly salary is ideal.

Again, It's not all courtship, sweetness and dating. Because after that will be marriage, commitment and responsibility.

DECIDING TO HAVE KIDS

Some newly married couple prefers to wait a few years of enjoying each other before deciding to have kids. Some though are so inclined to having one right away that they conceive it as honeymoon babies.

It is a matter of readiness to build a family and to raise the product of “you and me”. But at this time and age it should be more than what you want but also of CAN YOU? World crisis makes most limit their number of children to 3 or less, and some countries even give a rule of only 1 per family due to over population. These are relevant to the possible here-after of child birth. The excitement and happiness will be there, but what of the responsibility of rearing them and assuring that they can be taken care of, and giving what they need. Can you provide them shelter, necessities, and a little of what they may ask for?

More so, can you be the perfect parent for them, loving them completely and no maltreatments or insufficient time allotted for them? Because if you will only have them to please your other half and blame the kid for being in the way of your career or your social life, DO NOT HAVE ONE. Kids are not puppies or dolls to be excited about at first then be ignored after you lost interest.

Children are blessings, and in them you are sure of having the love given you unselfishly. It is the most wonderful feeling to share your love and your all to someone loving you more than anything and anyone else; And to see them grow up to how you molded them. It is a prize to see them be the best that they are. It is a fulfillment to complete your family of “two of us” to “all of us”!

ADOPTION

I was watching my ever favorite comedy show “Friends” yesterday, and I was in that scene where husband and wife, Monica and Chandler, were with the social worker who will decide whether they are capable of raising a kid or not. As always, the scene is hilarious with Joey with them…but it touches also a sensitive core especially in a mother like me.

It’s a sensitive issue for me even just to think that the baby will be raised by some other people other that her mom. It’s so heartbreaking…well, actually I became so very sensitive when it comes to kids when I gave birth to my very own 4 years ago. BUT on the other side, it also is heartwarming to believe that without parents needing to go into Adoption, those kids will have no one except those working in those institutions caring for them.

Though, this “Adoption” is a commitment and a responsibility that had to be thought of a thousand times before pushing through; because there is no turning back! It’s basically having a child JUST without the first phase of carrying for 9 months. There should be no difference…because in both ways, the couple will be given a blessing, a child to love and to care for until the day they die. It will be the proof of their love for each other, because they will each be doing this to make the other be happier, and in the end making the 3 of them the happiest.
